Star Citizen Alternate Gamepad Control Scheme

StarCitizen has a lot of possible actions and controls, and it's no where near 'complete' yet.
Although the gamepad only has 16 buttons, it offers a cheap and readily available option for dual-stick style flight control. Fortunately it's overall functionality within the game can be extended by the use of combinations and modifer keys.

However, with the application or removal of a modifier key, if the timing is not millisecond-correct, you will experience unwanted control 'bleedover' into the unmodified input, possibly resulting in some (usually small) degree of unintended game action.

The problem with the default gamepad layout is the mapping of some of the most basic flight controls require modifications or combos that overlap with other game functionalities in a negative way.
For example, by default, headlook is bound to the RS, and strafing to LT+RS. If the input timings between the modifier and the modified key are off -by any amount-, an intentional input to 'strafe left' can also result in some amount of unintended 'look left'.
Or perhaps while strafing with the RS, an accidental RS-click is introduced, resulting is an unintended camera change to external 3rd POV.

This sort of control conflict can be deadly in a dogfight.

And so this modified layout intends to avoid such control conflicts wherever possible, while prioritizing essential flight inputs over secondary controls, camera adjustments, and other non-critical actions, in a logical and effective way.
As with StarCitizen itself, it is still a work-in-progress, and will continue to evolve as the game develops.
